The Ontario Society of Artists has played an important role in the conservation and preservation of key Ontario lands since its formation in 1872 including influencing the creation of both Algonquin and Killarney Provincial Parks. We are pleased to announce that our “Standing Up” initiative has helped propel yet another major Ontario conservation win. In 2023, OSA artists, along with the Broken Forest Group, came together on a Standing Up For the Escarpment project in support the Escarpment Corridor Alliance’s (ECA www.myescarpment.ca) efforts to preserve the Niagara Escarpment of Southern Georgian Bay. Last week the Bruce Trail Conservancy (BTC) and the ECA both announced that the former Talisman ski hill has been acquired by the BTC and will be restored to connect the entire western edge of the magnificent Beaver Valley’s forested escarpment brow.
